Details: Monarda's aromatic, upright foliage is a delight in the garden. Early summer brings rosettes of yellowish, purple-spotted, tubular flower spikes nestled in large, purple-tinged bracts. It’s loaded with nectar for hummingbirds and butterflies, irresistible pollen for native bees. Plant prefers sandy soils with consistent moisture. Remove spent flowers to improve plant appearance.

Interesting Fact: This host plant for the larvae of 11 species of Lepidoptera larvae including the raspberry pyrausta butterfly and gray marvel.
